About

Rebecca
I’m a mostly vegetarian (except for when I eat meat) aspiring locavore (except for what I eat that’s from somewhere else) who eats mostly organic food (unless its too expensive) that’s gluten-free (totally) mostly from scratch (that’s pretty much true), usually with good wine purchased from my neighborhood wine market. I buy flowers every week they are in season because everyone should have flowers.
I live in Ithaca, sometimes described as a small, centrally-isolated city in central New York. Despite thinking this was a short-term arrangement, I’ve been here since 2001. Since my job (which is great) is here, and it is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been, I may be here for a while. Unless I move.
I live in a huge old victorian duplex, chaperoned by four felines who are quirkier than most. I have a studio space in which I sometimes make stuff and more often ponder how to rearrange the furniture. I eat dinner most nights at the dining room table passed down to me from my grandmother or on the porch with the plants.
My life has taken lots of unusual turns, just like yours. I am gainfully employed using neither of my academic degrees directly, but I am frequently glad I learned how to do the impossible and jerry-rig almost anything during art school.
It matters to me that I figure out what’s important and right and do that – except for when I can’t. Then I work on having compassion for myself and working toward change.
